New Forest Classic Cars Ltd
Welcome to New Forest Classic Cars Ltd.
We specialise in the total restoration of one of the most iconic and desirable British sports cars, the Jaguar E-Type Series 1 manufactured from February 1961 to July/Aug 1967. These cars are totally unique not just in terms of their stunning looks but their performance too which heralded a new era of sports car well ahead of its time when the car was first launched at the Geneva motor show in March 1961.
The cars were built as Fixed Head Coupe’s and Drop Head Coupe’s. Early production started with the familiar 3.8 Litre engines taken from the XK150’s of earlier fame with “pumpkin heads” and distinctive “flat Floors”. Over the years there were many changes made during production, largely for comfort with more user friendly requirements, particularly noted in the later 4.2 Litre cars.
However, it would seem that whether the preference is for a Fixed Head Coupe’ 3.8 Litre or a 4.2 Litre Drop Head Coupe’ the level of interest would seem at least as great today as the first day the car was launched. In recent years these infamous cars have only increased in terms of desirability, collectability and investment opportunity.
We always like to fully restore and rebuild our cars back to the original factory specification as detailed in the Jaguar Heritage Certificate which we believe is the correct approach in keeping with the preservation of these magnificent cars for future prosperity. However, we are also aware that we need to meet our client’s requests and expectations where ever possible which also makes our cars bespoke throughout the rebuild process. The superb finish to our cars and client testimonials are proof enough that our standards surpass the original Jaguar factory build. We can also provide “upgrades” for which the list is as extensive as it is sympathetic to the original feature’s of the car.
Typically, we will source the pre-restored vehicle from almost anywhere in the world in addition to the UK market. However, like all E-Type production the majority of cars were made for the left hand drive market, usually for the USA where the cars proved even more popular. Once back at our Lymington premises all cars will be carefully dismantled in preparation for the restoration and rebuild process. All items will be religiously checked and paperwork documented. We usually select vehicles with “matching numbers” in the correct order to the original Jaguar factory build. Earlier cars with good provenance and historical record will always add to the desirability of any vehicle. Likewise, Roadster’s or original right hand drive cars with a more limited production run will also command a premium.
A car maybe commissioned at the beginning of the restoration process or halfway through which allows for each vehicle to be rebuilt bespoke to our client’s requirements. We are also proud to sell our completed cars, hand built to the very highest standards.
We work very hard to finish the total rebuild of all our cars in ten months, however, this cannot be guaranteed as we will never compromise quality or finish for speed of completion.
Please feel free to contact us and we would be delighted to show you around.
